Hurricane Wind
Abatement Screens are a new
and innovative hurricane protection
product that offer the strength of
metal protection products with zero
maintenance requirements and full
visibility from the inside. They secure
a moderate size home in one to three
hours. An added benefit is their ability
to cover large and irregular openings.
The motorized or manual Roll Screen
offers shade and privacy as well as
wind and rain protection during milder
storms. Hurricane screens are more
expensive than storm
panels but less than Accordion
and Roll
Down Shutters. Some additional
features related to Hurricane Wind
Abatement Screens include:
They meet Dade
County and Florida Building Code
specifications (approved for winds
up to 165 MPH).
An insurance letter of compliance
is provided for an insurance discount.
No storage is required for Roll
Screens and minimal storage is needed
for removable screens.
They are available in white, beige
and gray.
Screens are made of heavy duty
geosynthetic polyurethane mesh.
The preferred method of installation
for removable screens is using a
aluminum “f” track above
and below the window. When installing
screens, they are attached through
an eyelet in the screen with bolts
and wing nuts. For most window locations
a ladder would be necessary.
They are impact resistant, lightweight,
easy to install and require no special
tools for installation.
They are ideal for large and irregular
openings including entryways, sliding
glass doors, lanais, garage doors,
arched windows and store fronts.
Hurricane Screens covering lanais
allow for storage and protection
of lanai furniture.
They reduce wind by 97% and continue
to deflect 97% of wind and rain
in the event of a broken window
beneath the screen.
They are available as a manual
or motorized Roll Down Wind Abatement
Screen, offering ready deployment
as well as shade and privacy benefits
year round.
